The game is traditional Angry Birds gameplay mixed with Angry Birds Space, Star Wars characters and locations, and promises to be much more than just regular Angry Birds dressed as Star Wars characters. No actual gameplay has been shown just yet, but expect to be flinging birds across your favorite planets including Hoth, Tatooine, and maybe there will be a boss level where you’ll have to fling birds into a pig-shaped Death Star.
This partnership isn’t just good for one new game, though. In true LucasArts style there’s a whole lot of merchandise also launching before Angry Birds Star Wars comes out. So far there’s a Jenga game which involves flinging rebel birds from their X-wing-mounted catapults into a piggie Death Star, an At-At Attack Battle Game so you can build an At-At and then fling yet more rebel birds into it, and a figure pack which will include Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and R2-D2. The boxes are modeled on the 1980′s collectible Kenner packs (remember those?) to give a nostalgic feel.
It may be a cheap way for both Rovio and LucasArts to make money, but that merchandise will be too much to resist for both Star Wars and Angry Birds fans alike. We can only hope the actual game will include some hilarious clips from the film done Angry Birds style, I think that would really make for a good crossover
