You need to understand that the eyes are delicate and what you may not realise is that every day you are putting them under a lot of pressure from starting into textbooks at school, looking into computers at work etc. By straining them you are in fact harming them which is something that you do not want to do.

Your eyes never relax even when you are sleeping they are moving (REM sleep). The reason for this is that they need to keep themselves lubricated which they do via movements which never gives them a proper chance to rest.

So what can you do?

Exercises to improve eyesight are basically things that you can do that are going to relax your eyes, by relaxing them you can go on to making your vision even better after a period of time as your vision won't be strained as much as they were before.

A great exercise that you can perform when you have a spare 15 minutes that will give you the relaxation you need is called palming.

To perform this you will want to... 
1. Sit down and put your elbows on a flat surface such as a table.

2. Rub your hands together to get them warm

3. Cup your hands over your closed eyes without touching the eyes themselves

4. Relax in that position for 15 minutes

As you wait in the position you will start to feel different areas in your body start to relax which is natural, what you will also experience is your vision darkening which is a sign that you are starting to become more and more relaxed.

Once your 15 minutes are over and you open your eyes you will realise that everything around you is in fact more clearly; shapes, colour, lines etc.

Doing this everyday when you have time and other exercises to improve eyesight will essentially help you relax yourself from all the strain that you put yourself through during the day so make sure that you try this out and see how much help this can give you (it will also help reduce bad habits with squinting etc).
