Skin cancer Easier Striking Men

World Wide Web | Skin cancer Easier Striking Men | Levels of antioxidants lower skin makes men more susceptible to skin cancer than women. This was conveyed by health researchers from The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center in timesofindia.com page, Thursday (8/12).

Health researchers found that male mice had skin antioxidant levels by less than female rats. Antioxidants are a normal protein called catalase, which can inhibit skin cancer by means of hydrogen peroxide cleaning.

Skin cancer is generally caused by the sun can make the skin is damaged. "The findings show that women have more natural antioxidant protection in the appeal of men's skin," said lead researcher, Gregory Lesinski and Tatiana Oberyszyn. The research team conducted research using hairy mice that develop squamous cell carcinoma of the skin.

The most common skin cancer in humans naturally when exposed to sunlight. "As a result, men may be more susceptible to oxidative stress substances in the skin, which can increase the risk of skin cancer in men compared with women," said Lesinski.

The researchers also found the drug with topical catalase could inhibit cell migration in suppressing UVB-exposed skin. This suggests that the influx of these cells in males might be due to the relatively lower skin catalase activity. In fact, male mice with UVB-induced skin tumors, has over 55 percent of the suppressor cells in the skin compared with their female counterparts.

"Men face a higher risk of various types of cancers, and relatively higher levels of inflammatory myeloid cells might contribute to this susceptibility," added Oberyszyn who published his research in the Journal of Investigative Der.
