Stroke usually occurs when the elderly. But the researchers found that long-term habits can change the health of the heart, arteries, and blood. These habits include smoking, drinking alcohol, and using illegal drugs.

Certain drugs such as cocaine and methamphetamines are known to cause strokes even faster, according to S Andrew Josephson, a neurologist from the University of California San Francisco, as reported by the Health Me Up

The high levels of smoking and alcohol and drug use also increased in stroke patients in 1990 and 2000.

Yet this research still needs further study. In it, researchers have not been able to show a direct link between the use of drugs and alcohol in their stroke risk.
